I’m using a pi3 as an Astrobox connected to a Lulzbot mini. Since I have a habit of not being around when prints finish, the extruder is usually cold and I just clip the filament so I can put the roll back in the sealed tub.
I would love to add a physical button (and maybe I2C screen) to the Astrobox programmed to heat/cool the print head between 200 and 0 (off). A tiny screen that could display the current temp would be great, too. This way, I could save those last 4 inches of filament. It would also save me the trouble of heating/swapping filaments before every print.
Is this even something that could be done?
