Hey, are there any alternative download links available for the SD images (ex. torrents)? Specifically the Raspberry Pi images. Downloading from Amazon AWS gives me a horrendously slow ~15 KB/s.
@Ramon_Imbao not yet. Is there any info you can share on how to setup a torrent? I’d be happy to do it
Disclaimer: I’ve never created torrents before, so I’m not exactly sure how they work.
I use Deluge, and there’s an option here to ‘Create a Torrent’. Just choose that, add the file(s) that you want to share, and then add trackers to it. There are several open trackers available like http://publicbt.com/ (+ more listed in the site itself).
Once that’s done, I think all you have to do is upload the .torrent file you’ve created and then let people download and seed.
Actually, I don’t particularly need a torrent. I just hoped there would be alternative download links rather than just that one link that forces me to use Amazon AWS haha
So sorry for the trouble I’m causing.
According to Amazon, if you add ?torrent to the end of the url requested, it’ll deliver a torrent file.
for example the link for RPi would be: http://s3.amazonaws.com/astrobox-releases/AstroBox-rpi-0_5_3-20150409.zip?torrent
Could you try it?
Oh, wow. That’s amazing. It works! And way faster too, though still a bit slow at around 50 KB/s, but that’s probably just from lack of seeds.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for trying! I have updated the downloads page with torrent links for all the files
