I have an email from Daniel Arroyo from Astroprint saying that the Astroprint Touch software works on pi 4 8gb. THIS IS NOT TRUE.
Sorry for the confusion but my email was about the current AstroBox image working for the Raspberry Pi 4 family as we knew it at that point. That is versions before the 64-bit 8Gb of RAM version that just came out.
After doing a bit of research on the new addition to the Raspberry Pi 4 family, it is correct that at this point our images for both the AstroBox Touch or the Gateway are not done on top of a 64-bit OS and therefore do NOT work on the new RPi 4 8 Gb. The Raspberry foundation has not yet even released a 64-bit version of the Raspberry Pi OS so we can’t make an AstroBox image at this point.
There is no reason to need that much RAM for the purpose of an AstroBox. So just use one the 4 GB ( or even less ) versions of the Rasperry pi to build your AstroBox
