I have a sorta general ‘for my own curiosity’ type question…

I have a custom printer, which I use with Astrobox. When I set it up in Astrobox Originally I think I chose a printer that was generally similar and just assumed I would then modify and create custom slice settings…But my question is where to the default settings for Standard Draft, Normal and Best come from? Are they from my original choice printer? Is there some what to adjust them directly? I can create custom profiles and do so for many objects but I notice some slce settings seem to have a default setting. (not just a number but something that is ghosted in should I not fill out a field)…

I ask partly because I have found that in fact the standard settings sometimes work really well though mostly with small simple models…my one complaint is I would like to tweak the retract speed a bit and which got me wondering how were the defaults set up and could maybe I recreate my printer from a different initial printer and get something different for the standard settings?

Those are specified by the manufacturer if they’re in partnership with us or us for popular printers that we have no partnerships with.

It’s done via a manufacturer’s dashboard. Your question made me think that perhaps we need to give users access to override those for your account.

Yes a User override with proper explanation an appropriate warnings would be great.

You can’t modify the retract speed? You should be able to in Advanced Slicer Settings…

You are correct I can create a new slicer profile in the advance settings but I was more asking to use the standard settings but with a slight change to accommodate my geared extruder that can’t retract at the speed set in the standard settings…not a big deal since custom settings are available, but was just wondering where the standards came from.

I’d like to request this as well.

There are some settings I want to be able to tweak permanently. Without being able to alter the defaults for Draft/Normal/Best, these multiple changes need to be remembered and applied to every custom profile. It would be nice to change the default, so that making custom profiles didn;t involve all the standard changes that a person would want to make.
