Grouping and ordering print files

So I have been using astroprint/astrobox for awhile now…

I now have many many model uploads and slice files on both the web page
and g-code files on the astrobox.

Is there anyway to organize them? Maybe I am just missing something obvious but in particular
on the astrobox itself I have all these files and finding the one to print is getting to be a challenge.
This is made more difficult in that when files are uploaded then don’t seem to appear at the top
or the bottom but somewhere in the middle of the list. A successful print seems to move them
to the top but finding them the first time is a challenge especially when I send them from my local Sli3r to the astrobox directly.

It would be nice if they at least went to the top or bottom of the list and it would be even nicer
if there were some way (like folders) to organize files on the astrobox and even on the web. Even just keeping the alphabetically sorted might be okay I could just get creative with the names I suppose.

In my case I have families of objects…maybe with similar names or iterations of similar parts that
I would like to keep together.

Also not sure it is possible but is there a way to have the astrobox print a new uploaded file automatically? This would at least get my new files to the top of the list if I understand how it currently works and would save a step when sending files direct from the local copy Slic3r.

By the way I generally like using the web slicer better, but there are just some things that the local app can do that the web versions can’t so I am stuck with using both or just the local one for the time being.

Not yet. I agree with you 100% that a organization mechanism is needed in the File Manager. I have also experienced the same frustrations as you.

Agreed. I think sorting and listing the “last modified” files on the top by default would be a good start.

Not at the moment. I don’t see how this feature would make a huge difference for most AP users.

I like the cloud slicer as well! What are the top 1-2 features that you need on the cloud slicer? I am going to guess the following: Ability to re-scale/re-size/re-orient objects?

These are absolutely important features and we are planning on implementing them in the near future. Our plate is a bit full at the moment and that is what’s keeping us from adding these features.

Thanks @Darren_DeVecchio! Really appreciate your insight and feedback!

Orientation is certainly high on the list…

The other feature is the multiple objects and the ability to use the masking features to print certain parts of a single model with different slice settings…I need to build things that are solid or near solid in some areas for strength and can be much lighter in other areas…this is probably more important for parts that are being used as real service type parts. Not sure how that could be done with how astroprint currently works and is probably not a common requirement.

So maybe multiple parts on the same print job would be #2 since it is probably the more useful for more people.

Thanks Darren!

Orientation is also high on our list. Don’t have an ETA, but it’s definietly going to happen…eventually. [quote]

Yeah, that’s not a common requirement, but we’ll keep it in our minds

By the way, @Darren_DeVecchio — We just released a Print History feature

Also going to add sorting etc… per your recommendations

Stay tuned!

Playing with the new website updates so far it looks good…should help a lot.
I would still like something similar on the astrobox itself but if the web can do everything I need then
maybe I not ever need to hit the astrobox direct…except for camera monitoring but I have a web can for that so no big deal.

Thanks for a l the hard work and updates…it just gets better and better…
