I leave my printer /astrobox on 24/7. I scan my wifi networks to check signals or ensure everything is up and running, but every-once-in-awhile I will notice astroprint hotspot is running as 10.0.0.1. Of course I log into the astrobox software (via 192.168.2.xxx) and shut the hotspot down.
I haven’t manually turned the hotspot on manually any of the times I have found it running (no need to ever turn it on since installing the astrobox.). Is it possible that the astrobox brings up the hotspot if it has trouble reaching my router/network? (loss of signal?) that’s the only thing I can think that would trigger it since my wifi router goes down once a week for reboot/reconnect (scheduled last night)
@Ed_Baker This would happen if the astrobox detect it has lost internet connection. I think your assumptions are right. Let me know if this happens again without the router being rebooted.
I noticed the hotspots on my two pis were on this morning, even though I have the box check that should not start them if it connects to a known network. Timing issue?
That checkbox applies when the box boots up. If connection is lost during operation, the hotspot will come online as that would be the only way to access it ( other than command line via monitor/keyboard )
We decided to leave it on even if internet is restored becaused it ended up being more confusing when hotspot would go on/off seemingly randomly.
