I just purchased an airwolf HDR. All the sample prints that they have supplied are able to print dual materials but when I bring in a file to print it only uses one of my nozzles. I have checked all my settings and they all look right. What am I doing wrong?
Do you mean pre-sliced gcode uploaded to the box?
If so, I would need to research this further, can you use out support system at https://AstroPrint.zendesk.com ?
If you mean slicing, we don’t currently support multi-extruder slicing in our cloud.
- Using Mattercontrol app, in the config settings there is a number of extruders you set there. it usually defaults to 1.
go here for instructions: https://www.matterhackers.com/news/mattercontrol-1-2-multi-extrusion-unleashed
when you load your model you have to make sure there are 2 seperate files. (in your 3d app you need to make sure they are lined up correctly or you will be fiddling with it a lot.) - export it out as gcode. (again refer to the matterhackers website for instructions if you do not know.)
- now you can upload it to your astroprint account or you can transfer it to the tablet that came with the HDR. I just transfer it as its simple enough. Also transfer is the option if you do not have wifi access to the web.
- now you can use the astroprint page to upload the file. it will load it from the web you uploaded it to or if you transfered it to the tablet it will be file manager.
- next all you have to do is tap the print icon and it will start the printer going. And you just wait.
I will see if I can do a whole break down bit by bit next weekend when I am back next to my printer.
Hello! I am wondering about the use of dual extruders? Has there been an upgrade to AstroPrint? I would like to use an Airwolf 3D Printer with ABS for the part and PLA for the support material. Thanks!
This works using the advanced settings dialog and assigning your support extruder appropiatedly
FYI
The current AW3D printers have joined dual extruders. This means you have to use the PLA for both or ABS for both. If you mix PLA with ABS the PLA will become super gooey and cause issues. If the materials have matching temp you can use them otherwise untill they make a dual extruder that has seperate heat chambers your pretty much limited.
