Live camera, more setting for printer, layers counting and more

Hi, i recently switched from OctoPrint to perfectly “core” programmed AstroPrint. But I missing some features which are pretty useful. Here is my short list:

  1. Live camera preview on local and stream to astroprint.com dashboard would be perfect!
  2. Changing more parameters of current print would be nice… e.g. printing speed slider.
  3. Layer counting for gcode uploads. Its really weird we have a nice timelapse with incomplete number :frowning:
  4. Cloud storage for gcode uploads. We dont need visualize gcode on page, but we need store frequently printed files like projects and their stls! And maybe this feature need not to be a cloude based. You can make gcode storage on local AstroBox with “Projects” feature.
  5. Maybe some graph history of temperatures, speed of print would be nice.
  6. “Lock” feature for locking controls on dashboard when printing. Sometimes I start print on my printer and after few hours I am checkong on mobile phone remotely status. And sometimes when scrolling, I accidentaly hit the temperature bar and I miss it. Some box like “lock controls” would be nice.

Regarding #1: f you mean Live Video Streaming – It’s coming very very soon. (teaser)

I agree with #6 as well. A mechanism to lock controls would be great.

Regarding #5: We already have a feature in the File Manager that will show you a bunch of Print Statistics – but it doesn’t have temperatures etc…

my two cents on number 5…

Having a better log or better still a graph of temps would be handy as on my printer at least if I give it too much fan it can cool the head, but how much is too much depends on where the head is and how fast I am printing etc…being able to see a sudden drop would be nice to help explain a strange weak spot or other issue.

I would suggest the current thick bar and slider be replaced with a simpler but still good looking graph with a set temp and a scrollable time/current temp graph…even if it didn’t scroll live or at all if it just put all the data in a single reasonable length bar that would probably be enough to see a problem and maybe catch it assuming we could adjust things during a print like fan speed etc…see OP item #2

I have another feature request! What about some anonymous acces to stream on local device or cloud?

I want sent link to our local 3D community when printing, so everyone can see what & how printer print…

And what about localization options?

Interesting… The localization features just went live. Currently English & Spanish are supported. What language would you like to see?

The share stream feature is also in our roadmap.

Czech would be great… we have one of the largest RUG on RepRap.org forums I think. If u need help with translating to our language, I can provide translated strings English > Czech.

edit: I have some experience with OneSky (translation Eng > Cze for FreshDesk) and Transifex (translation Eng > Cze for OctoPrint) loacalization services.

Another idea… maybe i am idiot, but setting temperature with these slider is pretty unusable… i cannot drag and set, i can olny click on bar somewhere and try to hit correct temp. What about little text entry box when I click on “pen” icon? :slight_smile:

Btw. IMHO two my ideas are good for ASAP integration - controls lock & custom gcodes for custom slice… many of my friends using Octo instead of Astro for custom gcodes before, tool change and after print.

There is at least a list of which features (ideas) are added and which not?

Daniel talking about localization… how can I contribute with my language strings? :slight_smile:

edit: btw maybe i found some king of bug now… when my WiFi router disconnect while box printing, than after my router went online again, AstroBox wont connect back. :frowning: lost my 12 hours timelapse :frowning:

@Jan_Pichrt the edit pencil should already let you edit the temps. Regarding the timelapse, maybe send us logs so we can see what might have happened.

When I click pencil, nothing will happen. Using latest 64b FireFox.

I have added my FF version to GIT issue…

off topic: can I connect more than one printer to my Rpi with Astro? I will try this later, i am not home now, but I have 3 printer this will be nice! :slight_smile:

No, the current design requires one box per printer. However you can connect any number of boxes to your AstroPrint account and manage them together
