Makerbot Support [SOLVED]

Hello,

Just loaded the AstroBox onto my pi and connected to my 3D Printer however it still appears that the makerbot doesn’t appear to be supported. After watching the kick starter hoping for support in October still don’t have it into the new year.

Is there any time scale on this or do I need to revert back to PrinttoPeer ?

Thanks

I too am looking forward to using with my Wanhao Duplicator 4S (Replicator Dual Clone).

I very much like the style and functionality of Astroprint and would love to use, if I can get it connected to my printer.

I also agree with you. I have a Flashforge Creator X (Makerbot Dual Clone) and I would love to use Astroprint with it.
I have all ready tried it out on my printrbot simple, and it seems like a very nice software, and would be very help full to use with my primary printer.

We’re currently beta testing a release for sailfish-based printers. @Andrew_Erickson @Phil_McGlass please write to us using our support system to request access to this release if you don’t mind early software.

All are welcome! Based on current progress of beta testing we’re very close to the official release. Possibly late next week.

@Axel_Granel , @T_W , @Stuart_Porter see my response above in case you’re interested

As someone who is testing the Beta, it does work well and I am impressed with the Cloud slicing.

Also works nice locally and I uploaded X3G files from Makerware and printed as well.

Jetguy - what version of the Astroprint Software are you using to connect to your MB/Sailfish machine? I’m using 0.6 and having “Connecting…” issues.

I just got access to a Makerbot. Something broke between the beta release and the official. It seems to only affect makerbots.

Working on it

Good News! The problem has been solved and a new release as been posted.

Please update your boxes to 0.6(1) and you should be able to connect to your Makerbots. Thanks everybody for your patience.

First, installation setup and connection were a snap on a Pi2. Kudos on the headless setup!

Just upgraded to 0.7(1) and am able to connect to my makerspace’s “The Replicator”. Slicing using cura works and downloads to the printer. It homes x,y, and z. But then never heats up. It’s been moded for dual extruders.

How can I troubleshoot this?

You can try our newly released 0.7(2) which allows you to start serial logs. It’s in settings -> software -> advanced.

The logs are located /var/log/astrobox

Let me know what you find out. I’m guessing the s3g command is targeting the wrong extruder index, possibly…

How do you usually slice your designs before astroprint?

@Daniel thanks and I see that I should be using the right extruder on the replicator. I have only printed twice on it using repetier host. If the upgrade doesn’t help I’ll also try uploading an s3g file.
