Move and place object on work area and other issues

Hi, i really like the Astroprint. But i cant to seem how to do these things listed below.

  • First of all. I wanna be able to move and place the object on a certain place on the build plate. Not its just static. For example, my plate is messed up in the middle (scratches) So i tend to move the object to the side or up/down to have a nice print surface. In cura and other slicers its easy to move the object around. I would really like to see that in here as well.

  • Second… I have i3 plus and astroprint via a Pi3 in Ethernet/USB. Its working really nice with the interface and all that. Its just. When i import a STL model and slice using the build in slicer, it doesnt matter what print speed i put in. It looks like my i3 plus still use the 100% thats default in the touch screen when loading the print. I try to lower the print speed in the values in the slicer in astroprint, but it doesnt have any affect.

  • Third. Im not sure if this is something with Astroprint. But my heatsink fan is ALWAYS on when printer is turned on and not printing. Its super annoying. Could be some firmware issues. I guess the fans should just be on when the print actually starts etc. Not in idle mode if not printing.

  • Fourth. I notice that i can change the bed temp and the temp n the extruder while printing. I wanna be able to set the printspeed on the fly as well. Is there any way for this? Just have all the options like i have on the I3s meny while printing would be nice (Printer speed, fan speed, temps)

Thanks for a really cool integration.
Is there any app coming soon? Even tho i really enjoy using on mobile phone in browser. A app would be a killer feature

Glad you are enjoying Astroprint!

1.) Regarding manipulating objects etc. We are planning on implementing this functionality on the AstroPrint cloud in the future, but as of now, I cannot give you an estimate on when it would be available. Good news is that, we ARE almost done with a different solution that would allow you to do all of this. Stay tuned  It would be independent from the AstroPrint Cloud, BUT, it would certainly be well integrated with it. As a matter of fact, we are actually testing it out right now!

2.) I don’t have a concrete answer to the i3 problem. Presuming it’s running standard Marlin/Sailfish firmware, you shouldn’t have any issues.

3.) Indeed. Sounds like a firmware issue. You can certainly try sending us logs (make sure you reference your original post) and we could see if there’s anything abnormal going on.

4.) Unfortunately, there’s no way to set the print speed on the fly as of now. If there’s enough demand, we can certainly explore that possibility in future updates.

5.) Yes, we are working on an app

Thanks for the feedback Markus!
