New Astrobox Touch advice

So, I’ve been following the new Kickstarter but as an existing Astroprint user using multiple Pi3 devices I am totally confused as to what will happen to Astroprint for existing users once you launch the new Astrobox Touch and associated services.

Will I be able to continue to use Astroprint as now?
Will it be crippled in any way?
If I back say the $150 package will that allow me to use the beta apps on the touch only or with my existing Astroprint boxes?

I want to support you but I am just too confused and cannot see that you have addressed the future for current users. Or will this not change at all?

How can I get answers to these questions?

Thanks.

Neil

1.) Yes, you’ll be able to continue to use Astroprint. The Original Astrobox Gateway will always be free for anyone to create (How?) and use.

2.) No, it won’t be crippled (Assuming crippled means introducing NEW limitations), but we will be rolling out Premium/Pro accounts in the near future. For MOST folks, the free features will be more than sufficient.

3.) The beta apps were made to increase the accessibility (with mobile apps) and enhance your experience (with AstroPrint Desktop). These apps are NOT exclusive to the Touch. You can use them with your existing setup. The software was just released early in beta for Kickstarter backers to show our appreciation

Let me know if that’s clearer.

Apologies for the confusion!

Is there any plan on getting the touch software released in the same way as the gateway?
I would love to have every printer hooked up, but the price is way to high when adding to 10+ printers.

Nope.

The AstroBox Touch will be 100% proprietary, so that:

1.) We can support AstroBox Touch users in a consistent manner knowing that they are all running the same setup and code base.

2.) We can pay our bills.

The AstroBox Gateway on the other hand will always be free, and open source :innocent:

P.S: Thread closed since it’s almost a year old. Feel free to start another topic if you have more questions.
