Is there any plan on having the raspberry pi image you make have a GUI option in the Astroprint interface patch the underlying OS?
Example things like the not to time distant shell shock vulnerability…
There’s currently no plan for that. It would imply that you need to use our software with a monitor/keyboard combo next to the box.
Our current design approach is to offer the box as a gateway to use the printer using secondary screens (ipad, phone, etc) through their browsers.
Err umm… The tentacle one can via the GUI drop down… So there is no need for a full kit by the pi. If you want people to leave these running in their homes you are going to have to help them secure it.

YES, We are going to have an option to do the equivalent to:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
