Possible bug in video stream start?

I can’t start a video stream whether its on my PC or my PI Touchscreen, unless I take a picture first. I then can start the stream and the video works. If stop it,it does the same thing unless I take a picture first, then start the stream again… Anybody else experiencing this? I’m using a Logitech C170 webcam.

Yeah, the button that takes the picture is actually the same button that initiates the stream when you first start.

Would you rather have it auto stream immediately upon toggling the video slider switch on the bottom right?

For example, the current workflow requires toggling the switch AND clicking the video/picture button to initiate the stream, Like This:

I have a similar odd thing…I can see the video stream but clicking the picture button shows just a black snapshot with the astroprint overlay,

I have no problem sliding the button in figure 1 and then clicking the button in figure 2. Wasn’t sure what was going on when I had to slide the button to picture, take a picture, then slide the button to video and click the streaming button to get a video feed.

Update…

I reinstalled 0.9 of astroprint…

In general it about 75% of the time it works as expected…however I often get just a black picture when I take a standalone shot…strangely time-lapse pictures seem far better. Video is rather hit and miss…sometimes it works sometimes just black screen, and sometimes I get an big Error text up one side of the web page. I am pretty sure I have the settings correct as it can work sometimes. The worst case is occasionally when I checked in on a printing job it actually crashed the astrobox. For now I am just using my IP web cam instead of the astroprint video stream and generally the time-lapse works for me.

For me at least the video system is less capable than the web cam software which has pan and tilt etc. which don’t seem practical in the short term for astroprint but are very handy when you have larger printer…

I will try to secure the logs next time I get one of those nasty errors.
