I’m trying to connect to my printer with my Android phone using only my data connection - wifi not turned on. (I live in a rural area where public WiFi isn’t always available, so it’s important to be able to do this). I can access the Astroprint dashboard and choose Monitor. I see that my camera and printer are ready and can see the nozzle and bed temps, but when I click the button to launch astrobox I get an error telling me that no data was sent. If I enable wifi, everything works as expected. Is there a way to monitor my printer using only the 4g data connection? I’ve tried using both Chrome and Firefox.
Negative.
If you want to log into your LOCAL ASTROBOX, you are required to be connected to the same local WiFi network as your AstroBox.
The reason for this is, when your AstroBox is cloud connected, by definition – there is no need for a user to access the local AstroBox. In fact, we discourage it because it can get complex with port forwarding / command line nonsense.
The second reason is due to security.
Why exactly do you need to access the local AstroBox when you already have it connected to your AstroPrint Cloud Dashboard?
I was hoping to be able to monitor the printer while I’m out of the house.
You CAN monitor the printer if the printer is paired with your cloud account.
Just go to the MONITOR app on your cloud dashboard.
Does that make sense?
On the AstroBox, these icons should all be green:
Figured out how to see the printer through the cloud - thanks for your help
