[SOLVED] Shell thickness set to 1.30 in Cura

Hi!
I noticed that I’m getting some slight gaps here and there on my prints. I’m using “Best” settings typically from AstroPrint, which usually work fine. But what I don’t get is why the shell thickness is set to 1.30, when my nozzle size is set to 0.40?

Cura wants multiples, so it should be 1.20 (3x).

Of course I could use custom profiles, but my opinion is that it should calculate shell thickness from nozzle dimensions.

Cura even gives me a warning if I try writing “1.30”.

Great Catch! It’s possible that our “settings guess” is not taking the multiple into account or the manufacturer has not done it right, Could you tell us what printer your using? was it one of the one from the list or a custom one you created?

Wow, quick response!

It’s a “custom” printer, the Wanhao i3 with 0.4mm nozzle set in printer config.

It should be fixed now. Give it a try. Here’s what I set for shell thickness now:

Draft: Nozzle size x 2
Normal: Nozzle size x 3
Best: Nozzle size x 4

Excellent! Thanks!
It did show up with 1.60 now under shell thickness on “best”.
I’ve never printed with more than 1.20 though, but 1.60 is probably the best for larger parts!
