Supported cameras

If there are people here using different cameras that are not listed here https://astroprint.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203050005-What-cameras-can-I-use-with-AstroPrint-

Can you please tell me what camera you are using?

I want to buy a camera but don’t know which one yet.

Thanks

I am using a cheap ($8) iHome camera. 640x480. Small Led lights. Worked well with the 8 versions of astrobox and recent updates to the 9x versions have got it going again. I have posted it in the forum before a search would probably turn it up. If I have the time I’ll try to find it.

EDIT
I found the link but it isn’t vey helpful and I made a mistake I guess I paid $1.99 for it on sale from $5. It is basically the cheapest thing I could find and it just worked.

Camera is pretty cheap, shipping is 3x the price of the camera lol.

Just wondering what camera’s will work. I was thinking about a Logitech C270 I think, so I can use it for scanning as well.

I have a micro center local so that why I got the iHome, just saw it for $1.99 while there for filament an grabbed it…in fact I got two at that price
Many people seem to like the c270…

I happen to have a hi-def stand alone web cam that I can pan and control remotely near the printer so I really only use the raspberry usb camera for the time-lapse stuff…hence something cheap. For realtime monitoring the web cam is better…It even has bi-directional sound so I can listen to the print in the background, which typically if something goes bad I can tell from the sound and then look at the camera and shut things down if needed.

I use the playstation eye, I know it’s already noted as a supported camera but if you already own a playstation they usually come with one so you may already have one that will work. If you don’t have a playstation I believe the eye is relatively cheap in comparison on Amazon
