I’m trying to use the Slic3r engine for my TAZ5 and it does generate a gcode file but there is only a G28 start command & no end commands. The printer homed immediately without heating the extruder or bed and started moving through the x,y functions without the filament motors moving etc… I have everything selected correctly and set up both the printer & filament. What’s missing? Why would the gcode not create bed & nozzle heating?
The TAZ5 currently doesn’t have a profile on our database so I’m assuming you created a custom printer. You can edit start/end gcode in the advanced section of the printer profile.
I’ll look into why it doesn’t create commands to heat up
I loaded the TAZ4 and checked all the default settings. I discovered that you must go into the Advanced settings because the TAZ4 Slic3r settings has fields for First Layer temp. & Bed temp. first layer which default to zero (0)? That explains why no heating occurred. The filament settings did load into into the other fields for nozzle temp and bed temp. So unlike the Cura engine you can’t just select Normal or Fine and then slice/print. Getting some default start & end commands to load would be nice as I just need to print-- not mess with g-code like advanced users.
@Jonathan_Hils I don’t think that’s the case. Many people use Slic3r without opening the advanced settings dialog. The default first layer temp just means to use the same temperature as the other layers.
It most likely has to do with start gcode. We’ll look into the TAZ5 recommended settings by Lulzbot and add it to the system.
