Timelapse timing

Hi there

Is there any way to change the timelapse duration to seconds rather than minutes. I find 1min minimum creates too few frames so when playing back looks very poor. I would love to have the option of say 5, 10, 15 and 30 seconds as well.

Thanks.

I do not think so. I have asked before for similar reasons. Hoping it will be in a ver9x update once they get the canera issues resolved.

Thanks Darren. I’m guessing it’s because they store the timelapse movie on their servers so don’t want to overload the space requirements. For me that is poor putting their needs before their customers. I unfortunately am on the verge of switching all my boxes back to Octoprint due to the video streaming and timelapse issues, yet I much prefer the Astroprint UI. Shame.

This is part of the reason.

We are still a tiny startup with limited resources, so we have to be frugal with everything – especially since we are a free service without any premium plans (yet).

Hope you understand!

If this is a major deal breaker – You are always welcome back later

Hi dilanka. Thank you for responding. Is it therefore not possible to provide a choice for local storage of time lapse video on the Astrobox unit thereby offering more frequent capture rate rather than just not offering it at all? Just a thought.

Sure. Two issues:

1.) We are primarily a cloud platform and the astrobox just facilitates remote management. In a perfect world, we would have astroprint embedded within the printer and have all the file management in the cloud.

2.) What may seem like a small feature is NEVER a small feature when it comes to software. There’s always a domino effect that requires a lot of systematic changes to the platform. Given this fact, and our current development roadmap, this particular feature is not much of a priority.

You are certainly welcome to officially request this feature on our Github, and based on our current priorities etc. @Daniel will consider it

Thanks for your replies. Appreciated

Even better, we also welcome code submissions. After all, the AstroBox code is open source
