Tree support or part support

Hi,
When I see YouTube videos I see they have a kind of tree support. Which I think seems better than the normal support as they are better to remove and will use less filament.

Does astroprint has an option to have such support?

Also, is there a way to support only a part? As now it supports everything. And sometimes I just need a part to be supported.

My first question is also because removing the support sometimes is very difficult not breaking the model.
Thx

Hello!

Yes, there is an option for Tree Supports using the Astroprint Slicer.

If your Printer Profile use Cura 3.6.0, you will fins this option in Advanced Settings, under the Experimental section:

There, you can find all the configuration related to the tree supports.

And we are working to add this option for all Printer Profiles!

Hi Miquel,

Thx for replying. I just checked and I see it says cursa 2.5.2
Astroprint is not connected to my printer (Neptune 4 pro) i use the web based astroprint, slice it. Download it and the upload it to the printer by the intranet we based of the printer.
Hoe do I change it to that version? So I try it out.
Thx in advance

Hi Miquel,

I just found out I could select the cura 3.6.0 option (there is also a cura 15.x.x)
So I am now trying it out.
What I do find strange when I set speed to 300mm it gives like a triangle. But I reduced it to a lower number.
Now it’s a question of trying but I am happy to see it is possible.
Thx for showing the way
