Updating form 0.10(8) to 0.10(9)

Before I kill my working astro-print (Pi3) can i check the method of updating?

Am i going into linux shell and using apt-get update apt-get upgrade to go from 0.10(8) or is there a different update method.

Nope. Open the web UI on your astrobox by going to its “.local” address on your browser, open “Settings”, then go to the Software Update section
