CTC Bizer: Testing connection times out on RPi 2b

Hi

will Atroprint (10.1) work with CTC Bizer with the original firmware (Creator 1.0) installed or do I have to flash the printer with the latest Sailfish release?

With the original firmware the Printer USB device is shown as Replicator2 and the connection icon gets green. The manual controls for X,Y an Z home are working, Z-steps (setup for moving bed) are not.

When I click on “Test Connection” I immediately get a red bar at the top of the screen complaining about a serial error.

I used Octoprint before and liked to give Astroprint a try because of its better mobile page design and the option to upload x3g files to the Pi directly. With Octorint I should upload the x3g to the SD-Card of the printer but it seems that this can not be write accessed via USB and the Pi. The way over stl or gcode and on the fly converting with a plugin ended up in wrong print offsets. But before investigating into this I installed the latest Astroprint PI image. I like the easy Hotspot Setup procedure but got stuck with the Printer connection failing.

If I can help with some serial logs please let me know.

Send over the logs to see what’s going on

Thx, I send a Log via the Astrobox server, but did not open an according ticket.

Unless the “Test connection error” this evening I tried to print something, and guess what, it works with rendering a STL file via the Cura cloud! Heatbed and Nozzle gets up to suggested temeratures. Great

So one thing left is, that the manual Z-Control does not work. I dit not try manual heating and extruding jet.

Thre are some issues with my Logitech B525 webcam stopping streaming, but that does not belong to this thread.

There is a setting for x3d format code in the printer settings. After you set it i found pit in my case a ctc duplicator works automagiclly after boot

Hi Christopher,

you are talking about the ‘Start Commands’ field? I thing I created the profile on base of the ‘Replicator 1 Dual’ and the Start Commands box contains ‘;do nothing’.

In the advanced settings change it from Marlin to x3d

Where you setup the number of extruders, hbp, max temps. It is the driver field. Change marlin to x3d and hit save then it should detect the printer after a few seconds if not reboot pi and power cycle the printer.

Ah, OK. this is set to X3G of course, otherwise it will not print at all.

Tried both settings of the Z-Axis Movement. In booth the manual z-axis movement does not work. The Printer presets stored in the clould schuldn’t be of any interest for manual controls.

Weird, You can’t heat the bed while printig but have full manual control. We are talking about the same Model CTC Bizer with plywood case?
